I have been making so many amigurumis lately, so many that I have not had the time to post about them. Right now I have them on my Etsy Shop, both ready made and patterns. However, this post is about the one amigurami that made my want to make my own designs. It is a post that I wrote months ago, but did not post, until now.

“I have been intreseted by these cute amigurumi figurs for som time now, and have given it a try but they did not turn out as good as I hoped. BUT, I have been seeing so many cute and cool crochet Star Wars figurens and could not keep myself from making one for me. Istumbled upon this really sweet pattern by Pilbeam from, you can find it here, and I just loved the way it looked. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and I think Padme is a great lead character, so I had to make it.

The pattern was very clear and easy to follow, I made some misstakes so I hade to redo som things, but other than that I thought it was great.

Mayflower Socks

Knitting Socks is very hard, am not gonna lie to you, I have tried. You will have to learn how to knit in the round, or use these annoying little sock-needles, then learn how to measure so that everything will fit at the end, still you might end up will ladders or some thing that is both too big and too small at the same time. But it does not have to be that hard, there are ways around it, if you really want to make your very own first sock without the risk of failing this time.

This pattern will teach you how to knit socks using straight needles, how to make sure that your sock is the size you like and any beginner could do it.

These socks are made in Mayflower Easy Care yarn, you could use a similar yarn to match the size of needels used. I will be posting patterns of socks made in Drops Alpaca yarn and Järbos Big Verona yarn soon aswell.


      What you need:

  • Yarn (two balls of 50 g each) worsted weight yarn
  • Needles that fit your yarn (6mm)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Measuring tape
  • Stitch marker, or something similar.

Tip: This sock is knit from the top down. Start by deciding how high you would like your sock to be, you could use a sock you like for reference. Then measure the length of your foot, from heal to toes.

Tip: This pattern below is for socks made for a size 36-38, medium height. To go up in size, 39-41, add 4 more stitches when casting on. 



  • Cast on 36 stitches. Work two knit two purl front and back. work 6 rows.
  • Knit in stockinette stitch now (the hight of your sock), 30 rows in stockinette stitch. Start with a knit row.
  • Heel : Now work on the heel. This is worked on the right side: place a marker in the middle of your 36 stitches, to mark half of the sock. Slip first stitch, knit all the way to the marker but leave the last stitch before the marker. Turn your sock around, purl all the way, but not the last two  stitches. Turn your work around, knit all but the last two stitches before the marker. Continue like this, skipping one stitch at the time on each side until you have reached the last 5 stitches before the marker.
  • Turn your work around and purl all the stiches.
  • Continue in stockinette stitch as long as your foot, 32 rows here.
  • Now work the toe. The toe is worked just like the heel, but it is worked on the opposite side of the sock. Here, on the right sock, the heel is on the right and the toe will be on the left. Repeat the heel steps, but start when you have reached a purl row. When you have reached the last 5 skipped stitches from the purl side, do not turn the sock around, purl all the way instead until you reach the marker. Remove the marker, measure double length of the sock in yarn, cut the yarn and thread it on a yarn needle.
  • Place the knitting needles side by side, see picture.Now, drive the sewing yarn needle back and forth between the stitches in the front, make sure that you alternate between the sides. When you have gone through the sitch with the yarn needle, you can then remove it from the knitting needles.

  • Once you have cleared the knitting needles from stitches, you can sew the sock. use the edges to sew, go back and forward evenly for a clean and seamless look.


Tip: Do use safety needles or something similar to help you sew evenly. Do not pull on the yarn to hard, you want the tension to be even.

  • Now, Make the left sock just like you made thes right one, just remember that the left sock will have the heel on the left side and toe of the right. To achieve that with the same number of rows, start with a purl row instead of a knit row after the 6 rows of “two knit two purl”. OR, if you dont mind the seam being on the same side of each sock, then just follow the exact pattern, they will look great no matter what.


Tip: If you are using variegated yarn, like it did, and would like the socks to like alike. Then, pull on the yarn until you reach the same color combo that you had at the start of the first sock. Just make sure you have enough yarn.

A couple months ago I wanted to start knitting a sweater for my boyfriend, the weather was then still cold and the timing felt right. But then summer came, and went by and now, in the middle of the fall season, I have decided to finally finish I started and have it done before christmas. YAY.

The pattern is a free one that I found on Drops designs website, the best place to find nice and clear patterns, modern design and to top it all, every pattern on there is free. 🙂 (not an ad or a sponsored post, I just love Drops design) This pattern in perticular is made using karisma yarn, a 100 % wool blend that I then had not tried yet.



Since I stated working on this sweater, I have gone back and forth on how the graph and pattern should look like when it came to the stars on the front. My boyfriend is not a big fan of multicoloured and flashy designs, so I have been making some changes to the graph and adding some of my own twists.

Adding a cute twist, a sweet little robot on the bottom left part 🙂 I love it.

There is not that much left now, am working the front part of the sweater, then I’ll work the back, arms and assemble. Ok, I have a lot to do, but I think I am more than half way done.

Look how pretty 🙂

So I have been working very much lately and have had many ongoing projects at the same time, so the blog has been put on hold. But yesterday I wanted to test something new, and the results are so pretty I felt I had to post them on here.

Since I have been knitting and crocheting so much the last few months, my yarn stash is growing and changing all the time. Surrounded by pretty colours and soft yarn, I still felt that I wanted to make something unique and new. So, I tested dyeing my own yarn!!


I started with some white acrylic yarn that I had, using food dye and any tools I had at home I created these two beauties.



There was still so much dye left, so I also tested dyeing some white fluffy yarn I had. Look how pretty 🙂

Later on I wanted to dye the real thing, I use wool almost always, and if it wanted something that could be useful then I had to dye wool. What I had at home that I could spare ( friday night) was a gray 100% wool 50 g, which has some kind of a mixed colours effect. Very beautiful, gray white and black in a very gentle mix. I extracted a very nice green colour from some green cardamom I had at home and a red-brown colour from black beans. These colors, with some blue food coloring, citric acid and some effort became these three 🙂

These two colour ways could work together.


The last, and dare I say best skein the I dyed yesterday almost in the middle of the night, was this pretty cream merino wool I had.

My absolute favorite <3

For this, I used the green from the cardamom, pink food coloring and water. Am so happy with how they all tured out, I should have done thing a long tim ago. Now I still unsure about what to do with them, since I only have so little of each colour way, but looking at them will have to do until I know.

Note: always use gloves when mixing dye or working with the yarn, otherwise you will end up with stained red hands ( said from experience 🙂 )

For the last week I have been working with some of the softest and the smoothest yarn to crochet with, it’s Drops Baby Merino. This i my favorite brand of yarn (not a sponsored post) but I have never worked with Baby Marino before. After working with i now, I will definitely use soon to make something for myself.

I found a greet free pattern on Drops website (garnstudio) that I wanted to make. I followed the instructions for the “12 months old” baby measurements, I hope it will fit well.  The pattern was very easy to follow and it worked up really quickly. Can’t wait to give it to its rightful user soon.


This was a very fun project, and am so happy that I went with both this sweet soft colour and this baby friendly yarn 🙂 . Here are more pictures.










Crochet Coin Purse

The last couple of weeks I have been working on a number of knitted and crochet projects, that I will share soon, but this one is my favorite so far. I ordered this cute metal frame from ebay some weeks ago, and when it arrived, I just had to stop everything and work on it. This simple coin purse is crochet using the sunburst pattern, front and back, these are then joined using simple crochet stitches to create the sides of the purse, it is very quick and easy. I hade a lot of fun working on it, I hope you enjoy this pattern and post.

The basic idea is that you crochet a purse that matches the frame, both the length and the depth. The Sunburst square will be made to match the length of the frame (from side to side). One of the squares will then be worked into a purse by simple crocheting along the three sides, then the second square will be crochet in to close the purse.

What you need:

  • Yarn, any yarn you like
  • Hook that matches your yarn
  • Frame
  • (Optional) thinner yarn to decorate the sides
  •  Needles, both yarn and large sewing needles
  • ( Optional) Fabric
  • Thread

How to do it:

  1. Start by working one sunburst square that is big enough to match the length of the frame (see below for info on how to make the sunburst square). Fasten off and wave in the ends of the yarn.
  2. Make a second square, but do not fasten off, work around the square’s three sides with simple crochet stitches to create the purse. When you reach the edge, chain one, turn the work around and simple crochet back. Do not increase or decrease the number of stitches. Work until the length of the simple crochet part match the depth of the frame when it is opened. (See pictures above).
  3. When the size of the simple crochet part of the purse matches the depth of the frame (when open), fasten the first square to the purse. You could do so by slip stiches around or by sewing using the yarn needel.
  4. Simple crochet around the edge of the purse to give it a clean look, if it is uneven.
  5. (Optional) If you would like the purse to have some lining on the inside, measure the bottom and the sides of the purse. Cut any fabric you like, to fit, remember to cut more that you need. Sew the parts together (right side of the fabric on the inside of the purse) place the fabric purse inside the crochet purse, sew together around the edge.
  6. Place the frame over the opening of the purse, adjust to place it correctly, and sew in the purse to the frame.
  7. Finish the purse by sewing with a nice thin yarn, or the same yarn you used.


Sunburst square:

  1. Slip stitch, chain five, joining with a slip stitch in the first chain.
  2. Chain three (double crochet), double crochet around the ring 15 times. Join with slip stitch in the last chain of the chain three at the start.
  3. Chain one, puff stitch. repeat around a total of 16 times. End round by joining with a slip stitch into the first puff stitch.
  4. Chain two, Cluster stitch. Repeat around. End with chain two then a slip stitch into first cluster stitch.
  5. Chain four (treble crochet), two treble crochet in the same space. chain three, three treble crochet in the same space. *three double crochet in the next space. Three half double crochet in the next space. Three double crochet in the next space. Now we will have a corner: three treble crochet followed by chain three, then three more treble crochet.* Repeat *-* twice.
  6. When you have reached the last side of your work. Right after the corner, three double crochet in the next space. Three half double crochet in the next space. Three double crochet in the next space. Work three treble crochet in the same space as the one from the start of the round ( that is a corner) chain three, slip stitch into the chain four from the start of this round.

Now this is how you make a sunburst square, you can make it bigger by working in the same way around, until you are happy with the size. Now, go back to the “How to do it”-part to complete this purse. 🙂

Another 1800-book tip for you guys, this one it more on the creepy side rather than the cute and loving side. If you ever have watched a scary movie or a show, chances are that there have been a vampire in these, sucking all the blood, killing all the people or just sparkling like glitter nail polish. The vampire in this book is unlike any one you have seen before, unless you already have read the book :-P. This 1897 horror book is very creepy and scary, at the same time as it is interesting and exciting. While reading it, I felt afraid but I still could not put the book down.

The story starts with Jonathan who is traveling to meet with the Count, Dracula, to talk about business. We get to follow Jonathan’s journey and meet Dracula for the first time in his home. From there the story moves on, we get to follow and get to know other characters. The story is divided into parts where each character gets a portion of the story told from there point of view. By writing in this style the author keeps the story interesting and the characters tolerable, otherwise one could get tired of only following one storyline or missing other aspects of the adventure.

Don’t you just love the art on this book? 🙂

As you may already know, Dracula is the Father of all vampires, both in the fantasy world and in real life. This book is the reason why vampires exist in todays popular culture, before Bram Stoker wrote this book vampires and Dracula were only found in old myths and folklore, and for that we are thankful. Just like any other book or text written in that time, this books feels like a time capsule that takes you back to a place where sexist remarks and behaviors were ok, a place where women could not take care of themselves and had to be protected by strong men. But that did not bother me, not that much anyway, since it made the story more realistic for its time and therefore even scarier. Even if you do not like the horror genre or feel that this might not be the book for you, give it a try anyway you will be happy that you did. It is one of the best written books I have read so far.




These toffees are so much better than the ones you would buy from the store, and I am not saying this because its is my recipe and my blog, I am saying it because you will be able to have fresh toffee, unlike the stale ones from the supermarket, and you will also get to adjust them to however you like. This might sound like a tiny dream come true for some (me :-)), but this really is the ultimate christmas and holiday treat. Your friends and family will flock, and demand that you make more, and more (or maybe that’s just my family :-)) Give this a go, you will love it, and its not as hard as you might think.

The regular toffee, as I like to call it, is a toffee made with my basic toffee recipe (see below). This toffee is sweet, with a rich taste of cream and butter and has a soft chewy texture. The rest of the toffees listed below can all be made from the basic toffee recipe with some added spices or oils. Don’t exchange the cream or the butter for less fat or even a “healthy” options, the toffee will not come out as good as it can, and you should allow yourself some holiday treats. This recipe can be halved and doubled without any problems, the cooking time might becomes longer or shorter depending on the amount of the mixture you that have in your pot.

This is a gingerbread toffee that I added some pink sea salt on top, so tasty.

You can make them as they are, and they are amazing, or you can add spices, oils and colors to make them taste or look a different way. Below I will list the recipe for the basic toffee, and after that you can find other fun and tasty varieties. They can be kept in an airtight container for weeks, if they last. 🙂



Preparation time: 5 min       Cook time: 20-30 min      Total time: 4-6 hours

Makes: 50-60 Toffees


Basic Toffee Recipe:

The cupcake tray was realy easy to use, they cooled faster and the cutting process was smoother.
  • 3 dl sugar
  • 100 g butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
  • 1 dl light sirape
  • 2 dl cream (36 % fat or more)
  • Cooking/candy thermometer (if you dont have one, check out step 3)


How to make it:

  1. Place parchment paper in a pan for the toffees to cool in later, you can use sizes like 20-30 cm, 30-10 cm or the round ones that are a medium size. I also tried to make it easier by using a cupcake oven tray and poured the toffee in cupcake paper. Use what you have, a small-medium size in any shape will work fine.
  2. Put all of the ingredients in a large pot on medium-high heat. Place the thermometer in the pot, make sure it does not “hit” the bottom of the pot. The tip of the thermometer is in the middle of the toffee mixture to get the right readings.
  3. Mix well and keep stiring, the toffee will starts to bubble, after about 15-20 min on the stove. When the temperature reaches 115 C, and you can see the mixture pulling away from the pot, take it of the heat. If you do not have a thermometer, try the toffee-test: take a teaspoon of the hot mixture and drop it in a glass of very cold water. Wait a minute, fish out the toffee from the water and try to form it into a ball. If it holds the shape, then you toffee is ready.
  4. Take to mixture of the heat, keep stiring to get rid of all the bubbles that has formed. Do that for about 30 seconds.
  5. Pour the mixture in a pan. Let it cool, until it comes to room temperature.
  6. Once chilled, put the pan in the freezer for about 5-10 min, so it gets firm. Take it out and start cutting with a sharp knife.
  7. Cut into rectangles or any shape you wish. Wrap in pieces of parchment paper that fits the size of your candy.


When I poured the toffee mixture in the cupcakepapers, they got this really nice fan shape. You can keep that, or re-shape them, they are soft but will keep the form.

Gingerbead Toffe:

So sweet and perfect for christmas time, this toffee is made with basic toffee recipe and I added some gingerbread spice to create this amazing mix of my favorite holiday treats. If you don’t know, gingerbread spice is a mixture of different spices that are used when making gingerbread cookies. You can buy this mixture ready in large stores this time of year, but you could also make your own. You find the recipe for both the toffees and the spice-mix below.

What you need: 

  • 1 recipe of the basic toffee
  • 2 teaspoons of gingerbread spice mix

Gingerbeard spice:

  • 2 tablespoons Ground Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cardamon

Mix well and keep in a jar.

How to make the Toffee:

  1. Just follow the same instructions for the basic toffee. When adding all the other ingredients, also add the spice.
  2. Enjoy.
You can use different types of parchment paper for the different toffees, that will make it easier to know what is what.

Peppermint toffee.

I made this recipe just for fun, my boyfriend loves mint and even though this flavour is not typically christmasy, I found it quite refreshing. You can use other flavored oils instead of the peppermint.

What you need: 

  • 1 recipe of the basic toffee
  • 2 teaspoons of peppermint oil (make sure its the type used in cooking)
  •  Green Gel food coloring ( or yellow and blue gel colors)

How to make it:

  1. Follow the instructions from the basic toffee. When the mixture has come to 115 C and you remove it from the heat, add the peppermint oil and mix well, then add the food color, as much color as you like. Do not use water based food colors, since they will change the consistency of the toffee. Gel colors are very concentrated and very little is needed to give a vibrant and beautiful color.
  2. You could skip the food color, the toffee will in it self have a nice caramel color.

A gimg_735666reat midweek recipe that is both easy and quick to make, for all the days where you just don’t have the time or the energy to make food but still want to have something good to eat. By buying almost ready pulled beef, pulled pork or even pulled turkey you can save yourself a lot of time to enjoy your evening with something more relaxing. This burger is just amazing, the juicy meat together with the crunchy and sour apples, the pickled onions and this tender bread will feel like heaven. And the fact that you can make it yourself, fast, easy and cheap will make that feeling even better.

Start by deciding what kind of meat you would like, if you are a vegetarian then use anything you like instead of the meat. You can use whatever you like, I picked the pulled beed since it is very juicy and it works very well with the rest of the condiments. You can use a regular patty och any type of burger, even leftover meat would work nice here. Give this a try and tell me what you think 🙂


Pulled Beef Burger 

           Preparation time: 5-15 min              Total time: 30-40 min (depending on the meat)

Makes: 2-4 Burgers


  •  1 (500 g) package of ready pulled beef (or another type of your choice)
  • Burger buns
  • 1 green apple
  • Pickle onions (recipe here )
  • 2 dl of plain turkish yogurt
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper

How to make it:

  1. Follow the instructions on the package of your meat, most of them take about 20-30 minutes in the oven until ready.
  2. While the meat is getting ready, mix the yogurt with the lime juice, salt and pepper. Let it sit in the fridge until you need to use it.
  3. Slice the apple really thin, it’s is best if the apple is firm.
  4. When the meat is ready, break it apart with two forks then let the meat sit in the juice for 2-3 min.
  5. Now, lets put the burger together. Put as much meat as you like, remember to spoon some of the juice over the meat on the bun.
  6. Place the apple slices on top of the meat, then the pickles onions (you can find the recipe here)
  7. Spread a good amount of the yogurt on the top part of the bun, put the “lid” on top.
  8. Enjoy with fries, chili cheese or just a cold drink. 🙂
